Let me know what you think of "The Wolf and the Woodsman" and "The Prince of Thorns". I haven't read either, but they sound interesting! (Thanks for the mention btw 🧙♂️)
I enjoyed The Wolf and the Woodsman when I read it last December. There was a little more romance in the story than I normally would read (nothing against it but I'm just not a huge fan of the "Romantasy" sub-genre as a whole. I don't mind romantic ties between characters to flesh out the larger story, but I don't care for the romance to BE the larger story if that makes sense?) but I thought the story was pretty solid. That being said, the book I'm reading now from Ava Reid, Juniper & Thorn, I'm hopeful about yet also within the first chapter already I'm getting some large hints that maybe there will be more of the "romance" and less of the fantasy/folklore story, so I'm not so sure about it. It's oddly veering into the "slightly smutty" territory, which I was not expecting so I'm not sure after I read that stuff in the very first chapter. Of course I read this stuff AFTER I sent out yesterdays letter lol.
Prince of Thorns I just finished last night and I enjoyed it quite a bit. In a lot of ways it reminds me of a more fantasy feeling Between Two Fires by Christopher Beuhlman. A bit gritty, but not overly so. I started book two in the series last night right away after finishing this first one! I wouldn't put them in my "favorite of all time" category at all, but absolutely in the "I'd recommend if you want a fun, fantasy fueled, ride" category.
